Valheim developer update provides information on new biome, enemies, clothing and more

Iron Gate Studio has revealed its future plans for Valheim and they look very exciting. As part of a new update blog for developersthe team details an important update coming to Valheim, which will introduce the Ashlands biome.

After sending a heartfelt thank you to its fans following the launch of the Mistlands update, Iron Gate is jumping straight into the future for the game. The Ashlands biome is currently in pre-production and “will be quite different from what we’re all used to, as the Ashlands is a large piece of land in the far south of the map.”

Watch the Xbox announcement trailer for Valheim here.

Iron Gate then goes into detail about how secretive it was regarding its previous update, Mistlands, saying it wants to be more transparent with the next update. More of the development process of this update will be shown, to help players get a better understanding of how far development has come.

As someone who likes to witness the development process from concept art to the game itself, this is great news, and I can’t wait to see what Iron Gate is up to. To give us a taste of what’s to come, Iron Gate also showed off some new enemy concepts.

Because the Ashlands are a land of the dead and brimming with volcanic nature, the enemies take on charred skeletal forms. The first one shown is literally called The Charred, then a creepier looking enemy, named Morgen, is shown.

Now that the Ashlands update is in pre-production, I don’t need to tell you that it’s probably going to be a while before we’re actively roaming the biome. That said, Iron Gate is also well aware of this and has some other things planned for players in the meantime.

Valheim is coming to Xbox later this year with cross-play support, new difficulty levels are being added, and the team is currently working on something called Hildir’s Quest. Plus, it turns out that the QA folks got creative while smoothing out the Mistlands update, which means we’re getting new clothes for our characters!

Last but not least, Iron Gate Studio also talks about how to make Valheim more accessible so that more people can enjoy the survival game. As a result, the team asked: “If you have a disability or any other factor that affects your gaming, you are more than welcome to email us and tell us about it and any solutions you can come up with. that would enhance your experience.”

If this is you, and you think you could help, email Iron Gate Studio!

What do you think of this upcoming update? It may take a while, but I do have a survival itch and think it’s time I visit Valheim again.
